Reading: “… that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” —Ephesians 3:17-19

Did, then, the love of Christ break through so many impediments to come to this? Did it make its way through the law, through the wrath of God, through the grave, through thine own unbelief and great unworthiness, to come to thee? Oh, what a love was the love of Christ to thy soul! And is not thy love strong enough to break through the vanities and trifles of this world, which entangle it, to go to Christ ? How poor, how low and weak, is thy love to Christ, then!

John Flavel (1627–1691)
