Reading: “And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.”— Ephesians 3:19

How can a man be filled with the fullness of God? How is it that we can enjoy what A. W. Pink described as being a “progressive enlarging experience”?

The answer is provided right in the prayer, notice the word that: it means “in order that you might be filled with the fullness of God.” This surpasses anything and every thing that man can possess whether in heaven or on earth. And it is an attainable goal!

For a man to be filled with the fullness of God, he must possess an experimental acquaintance with the love of Christ. This is what our text says.

I must possess a calm, abiding, view of Christ and His love. I must labor to get the clearest and fullest knowledge of Christ and His love that is attainable in this world. I can get that view of Christ only in his Word. Lord, help me to abide in that Word, to love it and to live it.

“Is it a small thing in your eyes to be loved by God—to be the son, the spouse, the love, the delight of the King of glory? Christian, believe this, and think about it: you will be eternally embraced in the arms of the love which was from everlasting, and will extend to everlasting—of the love which brought the Son of God’s love from heaven to earth, from earth to the cross, from the cross to the grave, from the grave to glory—that love which was weary, hungry, tempted, scorned, scourged, buffeted, spat upon, crucified, pierced—which fasted, prayed, taught, healed, wept, sweated, bled, died. That love will eternally embrace you.”Richard Baxter
