He is our way to the Father and to heaven: in His person, as “God manifest in the flesh,” and as our surety and mediator, by His perfect obedience and His atoning sacrifice, and by His intercession as our advocate before the throne. He is our great and only high priest, who, by His sacrifice on the cross, made propitiation for the sins of the world; and by His resurrection, ascension, and intercession, gives us access with confidence to God, upon a throne of grace.
