Tuesday 20th Dec. 1881. Long letter from dear Tom as usual. I cannot but own he is very good at writing for he never fails on Tuesdays and seldom on Fridays; he is getting more accustomed to giving addressed, may God make us both very active Christians and truly devoted in heart and life.

This is a rather perplexing time, we are probably on the point of changing our abode. “The Lord direct” is my earnest prayer. Direct us to where he can still more abundantly bless our souls and use us for himself. Direct us either to go or stay according to the good pleasure of his will. I see more and more that the only true happiness is having our wills running exactly in a line with the will of God.
