The Diary of a Godly Housewife (Pt. 17. “…where God has visited me so often”)

Saturday March 25^th 1882. My last Saturday in single life! Ere another I shall enter in a new sphere! Oh fit me for it Lord and let my life be spent for thee. Have been to Bourne and benefitted by the change. Mr. and Mrs. Bray so very hospitable. I long for tomorrow and shall spend all the time I can at the Chapel (Strict Baptist Chapel; ed.) where I have worked with such delight and where God has visited me so often. Dearest Alf (her brother, ed.) is my greatest anxiety; I seem to have the easy path just now “And only the sorrow of others cast their burden over me” The Lord is on our side (as a family) “we shall not be greatly moved” “To God will I direct my prayer and will look up.”

Note. The quotation “And only the sorrow of others cast their burden over me” is a line from Longfellow’s poet “The Bridge.” Longfellow dead the day before, the 24^th March 1882 age 75.
